About Me

My name is Chad Morris and that's me, in that photograph to the right...
I live outside Philadelphia, PA with my other half in a great little house. I moved to the Philadelphia area after receiving my BA in Anthropology and Foreign Languages and Literatures from the University of Delaware in 2004. In 2011, I earned my MLIS from Drexel University, with a particular emphasis on the management of digital information and digital libraries. I currently work in an administrative position at Drexel University.
Professionally, I have a strong interest in the following areas:
- development and integration of internet, mobile and social media technologies into information services environments to enhance information access and resource discovery
- information access in multi-lingual contexts
- cross-language information retrieval
- preservation of and increased access to materials through digitization
- digital preservation
- information representation and visualization
- human-computer interaction and effective UI design
- subject specialization in social sciences and humanities
- intellectual freedom advocacy
- international librarianship
I'm interested in working in one or more of these areas within a library-related setting.
On a more personal note, I have, I must admit, an addictive personality - not in the sense that once you meet me, you are hooked, but rather in the sense that I get addicted to things easily. The addictions become deep-seated but cyclical in nature. This is probably the reason that I have a widely varied set of interests that I refuse to give up.
Consequently, I have a number of activities and topics that I'm habitually addicted to, including - but not limited to - fibercrafting (knitting, crochet, spinning, dyeing, weaving, sewing, etc.), herbal medicine, ethnobotany, video games, comics, anime, manga, cooking/baking, reading, writing, photography, culture (pop and otherwise), traveling, architecture, religion and languages. I guess I'm what you'd call your run-of-the-mill culture addict...
